Manitou is the world's largest manufacturer of rough terrain  lift trucks and has been building them since 1953. In 1992, Manitou shipped its 100,000th lift truck. The company operates a modern facility in the western part of France, and ships machines to over 85 countries worldwide.

K-D Manitou manufactures several model of rough terrain lift trucks in Waco, and imports a complement of machines from its parent.  In addition, K-D Manitou designs, produces and markets a full line of industrial masts used on major brands of industrial lift trucks as well as a line of mini tractor loaders for the rental industry.  A full service department, including a spare parts department and warehouse, provides customer support after purchase.  In the field, K-D Manitou is represented by a network of approximately 50 dealers.
